QUESTION: I am under conviction that Ellen White was NOT a prophet. Should I leave the SDA church?

ANSWER: [Brother Anderson] Many have studied their way out of the SDA Church with no regrets. Many have testified that their Christian experience improved tremendously after they cast off the galling yoke of what they term a "false and cultic religion." However, caution is advised. It is possible to end up unchurched, or in a worse church. It may not be the right decision for you. Many SDA churches are led by godly pastors who believe and preach the gospel. Consider the situation carefully and pray to God for guidance. For further information on this topic, click on the following link Why Remain in the SDA Church?

[Dale Ratzlaff] If you are considering leaving the Adventist church may I suggest several things that will help you in your journey. (1) First, study thoroughly the gospel. Answer once and for all the question: What must I do to be saved? Here is a link to a number of articles on the gospel.: (2) Next, it would be helpful for you to understand the importance of using sound principles of biblical interpretation. Adventist doctrine was built on "proof-texting". One can make the Bible say anything using this method. However, it is not a safe method to follow. The Bible should be studied in context. Here is a link to several articles that will help you come to grips with good hermeneutics. ( 3) Third, you will want to decide once and for all what to do with Ellen White. This site is probably the best site anywhere on the Internet for this topic. There are also now many books available on the writings of Ellen White that will be of help to you. (4) If you start down the journey out of Adventism, there will be some who will want to push you faster than you feel you can go. There will be others who will pile a load of guilt on you if you move one inch away from Adventism. I believe it is vitally important that you follow your own conscience. While our consciences may have faulty programming, we should, however, be very careful not to go against our conscience. Here are several articles on conscience that will be of real help to you. (5) I have found that those who leave Adventism have a real need, not just a felt need, to "talk through" the issues with others who understand. The Former Adventist Forum will be a real help to you hear. As time allows, I am available to help transitioning Adventists at Dale@Ratzlaf.com or 623-572-9549.
